If you missed the “Grind and Whirr,” the public feedback session we host at the closing of each Clockwork Alchemy, here is a partial list of the notes from attendees.

Gaming

  • Enjoyed seeing TTRPGs on the schedules.
  • Were confused and thought all games required signups
  • Did not see the signup requirements for some workshops
  • Need more mid-length games (about 1 hour to play)
  • A game guide for the game library would help attendees select games to play
  • Generally need more infrastructure around gaming, like a mini gaming con inside the larger con

Authors

  • Having authors on panels helps attendees learn about their works
  • Liked the Basilisk’s Book Shop
  • Missed Author’s Alley and a dedicated space for authors to do readings

Bazaar

  • The bone vendor was popular
  • Need more signage directing people to the smaller vendor room
  • Request for a tea and candle vendor
  • Request for lobster tail bustles (monster tails would be appreciated too)
  • Appreciated that the incense vendor sealed their wares to contain the smell
  • Request for a parasol/holster vendor
  • More household items

Main Foyer

  • The custom drinks were fun
    • Mocktail versions were appreciated
    • Have 3 custom drinks so you could try one each day of the con
    • Request prettier signage for the cocktails and mocktails
  • The mobile bar outside the ball room was good
  • The socializing space outside the ball room was good
  • Snacks outside the ball room would be good
  • Annoyed the bar didn’t take cash
  • One person thought the mocktail wasn’t worth the price

Sessions

  • Presenter didn’t know the timing requirements for their session
  • Might need more people to help turnover rooms and orient presenters on timing between sessions
  • It wasn’t clear to presenters where to plug in to the HDMI
  • Need more/better ways to alert attendees that some sessions require a signup
  • Have a waiting list for sessions that require signup
  • Allow for more time for more complex sessions to turn over (e.g. if there’s a lot of equipment)

General

  • The Tea Parlour was wonderful
  • Wish the group photo didn’t conflict with other scheduled events
  • The group photo could use more organization
  • Need more info on channels outside of Facebook and Instagram, such as BlueSky and Discord
